Karachi’s severe, months-long water crisis has intensified after power supply disruptions hit key pumping stations. On Sunday, a forced shutdown by K-Electric suspended water supply from the Dhabeji pumping station. The situation worsened on Monday when a fault in a main K-Electric cable cut power to the Hub pumping station, affecting the daily supply of 85 million gallons of water to the city from that source.

As a result, citizens are compelled to purchase water at high prices from tanker suppliers. A K-Electric spokesperson stated that electricity is being provided to the Hub pumping station through alternative sources.
