The Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench has disposed of a petition from the family of Hania Ahmed, the nine-year-old Australian girl killed in a Chakwal shootout, which sought to transfer the case from local police to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The family had expressed a lack of confidence in an internal police inquiry.

While wrapping up the case, the court directed provincial authorities to ensure a completely fair, transparent, and unbiased investigation. Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan emphasized that no leniency should be shown to the accused officials and that the law must take its course swiftly. The court was informed that an FIR has already been registered against the officials, with departmental and legal actions underway.
