PM Shehbaz Sharif Reiterates Resolve Against Terrorism After Hangu Operation

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Saturday, expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of Captain Hamza Akram during a successful operation against Fitna al-Khwarij in District Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the bravery, courage and devotion to duty of Captain Hamza Akram Shaheed. He also lauded the security forces for eliminating seven Khwarij terrorists, operating under the Indian patronage, during the Hangu operation. The Prime Minister stated that Captain Hamza Akram Shaheed embraced martyrdom while bravely confronting the terrorists, and the nation will never forget the sacrifices of its brave sons. He prayed to Allah Almighty to elevate the ranks of the martyr in Jannat and grant patience and fortitude to his bereaved family.

The Prime Minister reiterated that operations against Fitna al-Khwarij would continue till complete elimination of terrorism. He added that the sacrifices rendered by our brave armed forces and law-enforcement agencies for the defence, peace and security of the country and nation will not go in vain.

The funeral prayer for martyred Pakistan Army Captain Hamza Akram was held on Saturday, August 8, following his martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation in Hangu.

Security forces killed seven terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Hangu, the military's media affairs wing (ISPR) announced. Pakistan Army Captain Hamza Akram was martyred during an exchange of fire.

The operation was launched based on intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. According to available reports, the terrorists had taken refuge inside a mosque.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to Captain Hamza Akram, expressing condolences to the family. He stated that the officer's sacrifice had foiled the terrorists' nefarious designs and that his resolve is a beacon for the nation.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have also paid tribute to Captain Hamza Akram, who embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation in Hangu on August 7.

In related counter-terrorism efforts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also reported that 10 terrorists were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 7. Eight terrorists were eliminated while attempting to attack security forces' checkposts in Azam Warsak, South Waziristan. In another encounter, two more terrorists were neutralized in Dir district.
