A deadly avalanche on Broad Peak on July 30 struck a 10-member international expedition, including British-Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja. His company confirmed no survivors. The Alpine Club of Pakistan confirmed the recovery of five international climbers' bodies on August 6, airlifted to Skardu. A total of seven bodies have been recovered, with search operations continuing for Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi and American Sarah Mallory Geis. The body of Nawang Thindu Sherpa has been located but remains unrecoverable.
