At Least 8 Killed in Russian Missile and Drone Attack on Kyiv

A large-scale Russian missile and drone assault on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, has killed at least eight people and injured more than 34 others, according to Ukrainian authorities. The overnight attack reportedly targeted several areas of the city, causing widespread destruction to residential neighbourhoods and civilian infrastructure.

Ukrainian officials stated that the strikes hit residential buildings, causing a hotel to catch fire and a six-storey apartment building to partially collapse. Emergency services rushed to the affected sites to rescue people trapped under the rubble and provide medical assistance.

Firefighters worked for hours to extinguish the blaze as search-and-rescue operations continued for survivors beneath the debris. Officials have warned that the death toll could rise as efforts to locate missing residents are underway.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed its forces had carried out separate strikes on military airfields in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions.
