The death toll from a passenger bus crash near the Balochistan-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border has risen to at least 24, with eight others injured, according to officials. The Peshawar-bound bus, which originated from Quetta, fell into a ravine after leaving the Dana Sar area of Balochistan’s Sherani district and crossing into KP’s Dera Ismail Khan district on Friday.

Sherani Deputy Commissioner Wali Khan Kakar confirmed the updated casualty figures. According to the official, the bus had departed Quetta with 36 passengers, but more people boarded midway from another bus that had broken down.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, and the injured have been transported to a nearby hospital. The Balochistan government expressed grief over the loss of lives and Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has directed relevant departments to expedite rescue operations.
