Asim Munir Played Key Role in US-Iran Deal Draft, US Media Reports

WASHINGTON – Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has played a pivotal role in bringing US-Iran negotiations to a final stage, according to a report by American broadcaster CBS News. The report claims that Pakistan’s army chief has earned the trust of both American and Iranian leadership, enabling Pakistan to be the only country to successfully finalize a draft of the proposed peace agreement.

The report highlighted the complete harmony between Pakistan’s political and military leadership as a crucial factor in the mediation’s success. It also recalled that US President Donald Trump had previously referred to Field Marshal Munir as “my favorite Field Marshal.”

In a related development in Tehran, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, who has also been a key figure in the diplomatic efforts, was re-elected as the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament. His re-election for a seventh consecutive year is seen by observers as a signal of continuity in Iran’s current foreign policy.
