The Inspector General of Police for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Liaqat Ali Malik, addressed a press conference on Thursday, warning citizens against “disinformation and AI-generated content” amid what he described as a “hybrid warfare” environment.

The IGP rejected reports suggesting that entry points into AJK were closed, stating that major routes including Kohala, Azad Pattan, and Bararkot remain open for all traffic, including vehicles with essential commodities. He said vehicles are subject only to routine security checks.

Malik urged overseas Pakistanis, particularly the Kashmiri diaspora in the United Kingdom and Europe, to verify information through official government channels. He specifically addressed a recent BBC Urdu report, claiming it was “far away from reality” and published without seeking the government’s version.

The police chief alleged that activists of the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) had erected barriers and attacked goods-laden trucks at some locations. He added that law enforcement agencies were working to clear these roads and facilitate commuters.

He also called on media organisations to verify reports with the police’s public relations office before broadcasting them.
