Actress Momina Iqbal Harassment Case Involves Lawyer Saqib Chadhar

ISLAMABAD – The harassment case involving actress Momina Iqbal has taken a significant new turn, with her legal team now claiming the matter is linked to a past relationship with a member of the Punjab Assembly.

Speaking to the media after an appearance before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, the actress’s lawyers stated that Iqbal had a relationship with the lawmaker during 2022 and 2023, in which marriage proposals were reportedly exchanged. The legal team alleged that while the MPA expressed intentions to marry and sent a formal proposal, it later emerged he was already married and allegedly intended a subsequent marriage.

According to the lawyers, the actress ended the relationship upon discovering the full circumstances. Tensions are said to have escalated when her marriage was later arranged elsewhere, after which she allegedly faced pressure, intimidation, and harassment.

It was also alleged that political influence was used to initiate legal proceedings against the actress’s fiancé during the same period. Despite the alleged pressure, the lawyers confirmed Momina Iqbal’s wedding is scheduled to take place on June 1 as planned.

They added that all relevant digital and documentary evidence related to the harassment and alleged blackmail has been submitted to investigators, expressing confidence in the inquiry. The legal team also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for taking notice of the matter, calling it an encouraging action for the protection of women in the entertainment industry.
