Alleged Drug Supplier Anmol ‘Pinky’ Remanded into Police Custody

The investigation into a major drug trafficking network in Karachi has intensified with the suspension of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ali Hassan. A notification confirmed the suspension was ordered on the directive of the Sindh Home Minister, marking a significant development in the case involving the alleged drug supplier Anmol, also known as Pinky.

This comes as a Karachi court granted police a three-day physical remand for Anmol. The hearing was conducted under high security at the judicial complex within Central Jail due to public safety concerns. Anmol is facing numerous drug peddling cases registered at various police stations, including at least nine at the Darakhshan and Gizri stations.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Odho revealed that many influential names are expected to surface as the probe continues. He stated that the suspect, Pinky, primarily resided in Lahore and that a special task force is being formed to handle the case. The IG urged the public to provide any relevant information to the task force.

The investigation has been expanded due to the sophisticated nature of the operation, which allegedly used an online shopping brand to sell drugs in posh localities. The National Counter Narcotics Coordination Intelligence (NCNCI) will now examine the online sales aspect, while the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been brought in to probe the financial and banking transactions associated with the network.

At a press conference, the IG Sindh also noted broader anti-narcotics efforts, mentioning the recent seizure of 40 kg of crystal meth (ice) and the arrest of over a thousand criminals. Authorities anticipate more high-profile revelations as the multi-agency investigation into Pinky’s alleged network progresses.
