The Pakistan Meteorological Department on August 31 issued an updated forecast, stating that the final spell of monsoon rains is expected to begin the same afternoon and could last until September 6.

According to the Met Office, western winds have entered the country. Heavy rainfall with strong winds and thunderstorms is predicted for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, the Galyat region, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Similar weather is also forecast for several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Swat, and Abbottabad, as well as parts of Punjab such as Sialkot, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

The department has also issued a warning for potential landslides in upper and mountainous regions during this period. Meanwhile, most districts in Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot.
