Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reiterated her tribute to police martyrs on Police Martyrs’ Day, emphasizing their sacrifices for peace and security. She noted that Lahore has emerged as one of the safer cities, outperforming several developed cities in the Numbeo Crime and Safety Index, thanks to police sacrifices and the Safe City Project. The Chief Minister also stated that the government is equipping the Punjab Police with advanced communication systems, bulletproof vehicles, and other essential resources to enhance operational capacity, leading to secure riverine areas.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to the police martyrs who laid down their lives for the country and the nation, and saluted the patience and resilience of their families on the occasion of Police Martyrs’ Day. In her message, the chief minister said the sacrifices rendered by the Punjab Police in the fight against terrorism, extremism and crime were unforgettable. She added that the Punjab government was fulfilling its responsibility towards the welfare and care of the families of police martyrs in the best possible manner, including providing quality education, healthcare, housing and other essential facilities to their children. Maryam Nawaz highlighted that, alongside the Safe City Project, the sacrifices of police martyrs had played a pivotal role in making Lahore one of the world’s safer cities, surpassing several developed cities in the Numbeo Crime and Safety Index. She also stated that the Punjab Police were being equipped with modern weapons, state-of-the-art protective and communication equipment, bullet proof vehicles and other essential resources. The chief minister observed that the sacrifices of police martyrs had borne fruit, adding that the riverine (Katcha) areas are now not only secure but also progressing on the path of development.

On Police Martyrs' Day, the President and Prime Minister have also paid tribute to the brave police officers who sacrificed their lives.
