Tax Collections Nearly Doubled in 2.5 Years, Says Finance Minister

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that Pakistan’s tax collections have nearly doubled over the past two and a half years. Speaking at a meeting with FBR leadership, he congratulated the board for surpassing its revenue target of Rs 12.83 trillion for the fiscal year 2025-26, ultimately collecting over Rs 13 trillion.

The minister noted that this achievement has helped keep the fiscal deficit at its lowest level. He attributed the success to teamwork, continuous reforms, and the diligent efforts of the FBR.

It was also revealed that the FBR issued Rs 599 billion in tax refunds during the fiscal year, including a record Rs 13.5 billion on the final day. Mr. Aurangzeb added that the government is focused on modernizing the tax system through artificial intelligence and digitalization.
