US Issues Heat Warning After Deadly European Heatwave

A dangerous heat warning has been issued for parts of the United States, following a severe heatwave in Europe that has resulted in over 1,300 deaths in one week.

The U.S. National Weather Service has forecast temperatures reaching up to 38 degrees Celsius in central and eastern states this week.

In Europe, the ongoing heatwave has led to significant fatalities, with approximately 1,000 deaths reported in France and over 300 in Spain. Italy issued a red alert for severe heat on Monday, June 29. The extreme temperatures have also disrupted tourist sites and railway services in several countries, including France, Germany, and Italy.

According to the World Health Organization, temperatures in Europe are rising at double the global average rate, with an estimated 150 million people currently affected by the severe heat. The heatwave is predicted to continue for another week.
