Pakistan national hockey team captain Amad Butt has issued a public apology for the team’s performance in the Pro Hockey League, which concluded with a 16th consecutive defeat for the side.

In a social media statement, Butt said the results were not encouraging and apologised to the nation. He thanked supporters who continue to stand by the team and acknowledged the difficulty for players carrying the “burden of defeat.”

Butt stated that while the team performed to the best of their ability, their capacity must be enhanced to compete with the world’s best teams. He called on the hockey federation and the government to play their part, stating, “it’s time for action, not reaction.”

The captain contrasted Pakistan’s system, where he said the team often waits for training camps to be announced just before tournaments, with the long-term training processes in other countries. He clarified that he was not complaining but demanding improvements for the future of hockey and its players in Pakistan.
