Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the framework agreement with Lebanon as a “historic success” for Israel and a “blow to Iran and Hezbollah.” He stated the deal represents a significant step toward ending the long-standing conflict and could pave the way for a future peace treaty.

Mr. Netanyahu said that as part of the agreement, Israel will withdraw its forces from two areas it currently occupies. He described this as an initial step toward the disarmament of Hezbollah and the transfer of control of these areas to the Lebanese army.

However, the Israeli Prime Minister added that the security zone in southern Lebanon will be maintained until the threat to Israel from Lebanon is “completely eliminated.”
