Tight security measures were deployed nationwide for mourning processions and majalis held to observe Youm-e-Ashura on Friday, June 26.
The main Youm-e-Ashura processions across Pakistan concluded peacefully on Friday, June 26.
Available reports indicate that the historic Tazia processions concluded without major incident. The National Peace Committee also issued a message highlighting the peace and unity observed during the day's events.
In addition to other cities, Youm-e-Ashura is also being observed with religious devotion and respect in Badin, where processions are being held.
Youm-e-Ashura is observed to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
Security has been significantly heightened in major cities. In Karachi, 20,000 police personnel, along with Army and Rangers units, have been deployed to secure the processions. Thousands of police personnel are also on duty in Rawalpindi.
In Balochistan, mobile phone and internet services have been suspended in Quetta and other sensitive areas as a security precaution.
Processions for Youm-e-Ashura are also being held in Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Khanpur, and Nawabshah, with participants following designated routes.
Processions to mark Youm-e-Ashura are also underway in Sadiqabad, Gujranwala, and Peshawar, with security measures in place for the mourners.
As part of nationwide security measures for Youm-e-Ashura, mobile services have been temporarily suspended in various areas to secure processions. All relevant departments are reportedly on high alert.
Separately, Maryam Aurangzeb has reviewed the security arrangements for Muharram. In addition, local governments are said to be fully active in managing the arrangements, with Salman Abdullah Murad issuing a statement on the matter.
In Karachi, strict security arrangements have been implemented for Ashura processions. Across various cities, some roads have also been blocked as part of the security measures for the 10th of Muharram.
In Karachi, a central Muharram procession has emerged in the Malir district. Reports also indicate that leaders from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are participating in the city's main Ashura procession. Volunteers in Karachi have also been seen organizing 'niaz' (food) for participants.
Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, Ashura processions and majalis have reportedly been held peacefully.
In Quetta, an Ashura procession has also commenced amid tight security arrangements.
In Rawalpindi, Ashura processions are also being held amid security arrangements. The central procession has reportedly commenced from Nisar Haveli, with authorities suspending mobile networks and blocking roads in designated areas.
In Multan, a total of 116 Ashura processions are being held across the city. Processions are also being observed in Sadiqabad with religious devotion. Meanwhile, authorities in Sindh have implemented a strict security plan for all Ashura processions throughout the province.
Iran has now issued a formal statement regarding the protection of ships navigating through the Strait of Hormuz, according to available information.
In Multan, an Ashura procession has also set out under tight security arrangements.
In Lahore, the main Shabih-e-Zuljinah procession, which originated from Nisar Haveli, is proceeding along its traditional route towards its conclusion at Karbala Gamay Shah. A central majlis was held at Nishtar Park in Karachi before the main procession began its journey towards Imam Bargah Hussainian Iranian in Kharadar.
In Quetta, the main procession emerged from Imam Bargah Hussaini Sadat on Alamdar Road. Available reports indicate it includes 35 different groups. Meanwhile, in Rajanpur, authorities announced plans for 67 majalis and 51 processions for the day.
To ensure security, mobile and internet services have been suspended in sensitive areas across the country, and Section 144, which bans the display of weapons, has been imposed along procession routes.
In Faisalabad, a central Ashura procession is also being held to mark the 10th of Muharram. Meanwhile, reports from Karachi indicate that thousands of mourners have joined the city's main procession, which is organized by Anjuman Haideri.
In Karachi, the main 10th Muharram procession is scheduled to emerge from Nishtar Park. Meanwhile, a 150-year-old central Ashura procession is being held in Rahim Yar Khan.
