Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has revealed that he held a different viewpoint regarding the memorandum of understanding with the United States but approved it based on a consensus reached by the country’s leadership.

In a message released on Thursday, Khamenei stated, “My point of view on the memorandum of understanding with America was different, but I approved it on the consensus of President Pezeshkian and the Supreme National Security Council.”

He clarified that allowing direct, individual-level negotiations in the future “does not mean that the enemy’s point of view has been accepted.” He issued a warning that Iran would not bow to excessive demands from the American side.

The Supreme Leader said he granted permission for the deal only after the Iranian president and other officials assured him they would take responsibility for protecting the rights of the Iranian nation and the “resistance front.”
