Important to note the article says these reports are ‘unconfirmed’. In such a tense situation, waiting for official confirmation is crucial before drawing conclusions. Misinformation could make things much worse.

This formalizes a long-standing security relationship. The key will be maintaining our own foreign policy autonomy while fulfilling our commitments. Let’s hope it’s purely for deterrence.
