PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has initiated efforts to reconcile with disgruntled Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) from his own party.

The chief minister held a late-night meeting at the residence of MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi, who, according to party sources, had expressed displeasure over not being included in the provincial cabinet. CM Afridi has also reportedly made telephonic contact with several other unhappy lawmakers to address their grievances.

Sources within the party confirmed that the chief minister has briefed the central leadership on the members’ concerns. In response, the central leadership has reportedly requested the chief minister to accommodate the disgruntled MPAs and resolve their issues.

In a public statement, however, MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi said his discussion with the chief minister focused on matters concerning the overall development of Khyber district and solutions to problems faced by the public.
