Thirteen militants, including two Afghans, killed in KP security operation
Security forces have killed at least 13 militants, including two Afghan nationals, in a two-day operation in the Darra Adamkhel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security sources said on Saturday.
Five militants were killed on Friday when the operation began, followed by another eight on Saturday. The militants belonged to the Tariq Gidar group, an affiliate of the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Among the dead were two Afghan nationals, Zeenatullah and Lawangin, along with local militants Daud, Hamza, and Qari Zeenatullah. The identities of the other slain militants were being ascertained.
The operation was launched based on intelligence reports of militant presence in the area, which has now been cordoned off. Security sources stated the offensive would continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.
Separately, authorities in North Waziristan have imposed a curfew for May 30 and 31, with all entry and exit routes closed to public movement. A relaxation period will be provided from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for public convenience.
