Pakistan Reaffirms ‘One China’ Policy Ahead of PM’s Visit

The Senate of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming strong bilateral ties with China and reiterating the country’s steadfast commitment to the ‘One China’ policy. The move precedes an official visit to China by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif scheduled for late May, which will mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. During the visit, agreements valued at approximately five billion dollars are expected to be signed. In a related development, a high-level Chinese parliamentary delegation recently visited Pakistan’s parliament with the aim of enhancing institutional linkages between the two countries.
