British National Security Advisor Meets Pakistani Prime Minister

British National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss bilateral relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two nations.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif reiterated his resolve to further promote a “strong, positive, and future-oriented” relationship with the United Kingdom. The prime minister also conveyed his best wishes to his British counterpart, Sir Keir Starmer.

During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including security, trade, and investment. Powell commended Pakistan for its constructive role in regional diplomacy and its efforts to promote dialogue and reduce regional tensions.

The British advisor affirmed that his government is keen to increase collaboration with Pakistan. He stated that the UK is deeply interested in expanding bilateral cooperation not only in security and trade but also in key development sectors.
