Abbas Araghchi issues warning to US against attacking Iran

Last Updated: 5 days ago

A senior Iranian lawmaker has issued a stark warning to countries in the region hosting American military forces, urging them to expel US troops or face consequences in the event of a new conflict. Ibrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, stated that regional nations have a window of opportunity before any potential US attack to “announce and implement the permanent expulsion of Americans,” cautioning them not to “complain to us later.”

Rezaei’s remarks follow recent statements from the US president, who suggested that Washington could attack again if a deal with Tehran is not reached. The parliamentary spokesperson also alluded to an Iranian plan to make the US president “politically and economically bankrupt,” noting that this strategy “advances through some of these” regional countries.

This warning to regional neighbours is the latest in a series of escalating threats from Tehran. A spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) previously threatened that any renewed conflict would expand beyond the Middle East to “unimaginable” locations, signaling a wider and more unpredictable confrontation.

Reinforcing this message of defiance, Iran’s Foreign Minister has asserted that the nation’s full military capabilities were not utilized in previous engagements and that its next response would be “surprising.” A representative for the Supreme Leader also conveyed that the nation is united, presenting a cohesive front against perceived threats from the United States and Israel.
