PTI protests in Islamabad over access to Imran Khan in jail

A protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) took place in Islamabad, with participants demanding a meeting with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. A convoy carrying Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reached the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad and was stopped at Traffic Circle 26. A huge number of PTI workers gathered for the protest, which was also described as a dharna, or sit-in, outside the jail.

The situation turned tense, leading to chaos and a confrontation between PTI and police. A high alert was issued, and roads were completely blocked, causing problems for the public. During the protest in Pakistan, CM Sohail Afridi climbed onto a car roof to address the workers. PTI MNA Iqbal Afridi joined the protest, as did Imran Khan’s sisters, including Aleema Khan and Noreen Niazi, who gave a statement. Barrister Umair Niazi gave an emergency talk about a potential attempt to arrest Sohail Afridi. PTI leader Aftab Alam Afridi stated that a “revolution is coming.”

Sohail Afridi and Imran Khan’s sisters later held an important press conference and media briefing at KP House, where they were said to have made “big revelations.” The protest at No. 26 Chungi ended late at night as PTI workers dispersed.
