Trump claims halted strike on Iran while warning of future attacks

US President Donald Trump claimed a planned military strike on Iran was halted, stating the US was one hour away from the attack before he reversed the decision. Following the postponement, Trump issued fresh threats and warnings, stating Iran could face another “major blow” or “another big hit.” He said the US may have to strike Iran again if a nuclear agreement fails and affirmed that Iran can never have nuclear weapons. US Vice President JD Vance also issued a warning, stating the US was fully prepared for military action against Iran.

In response, Iran issued strong warnings, with its president stating, “We will fight,” and that the country will not back down from its “no retreat” position. Iranian officials warned that any attack would turn the Middle East into a “graveyard for U.S. forces,” and Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also delivered a strong reply to the American threats. Iran has stated it stands firm and is ready to confront the US and any military aggression.

Amid the escalating tensions, Trump claimed that Iran wants a deal, with some reports mentioning a 72-hour or three-day deadline being issued for an agreement. However, an Iranian official stated there was “no room for surrender.” The reason for the postponed strike has been a subject of media analysis, with some reports pointing to pressure from Gulf allies, while others have framed the reversal as a political setback for the US president.
