Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Tuesday for a one-day visit to address the province’s security situation. Upon his arrival at the airport, the premier was received by Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

The primary purpose of the visit is to preside over a session of the provincial Apex Committee, a high-level body established under the National Action Plan. The meeting will bring together senior civil and military officials to review the overall law and order situation in Balochistan.

This visit follows a previous trip by the prime minister on January 18, during which he met with political leaders and announced several development projects worth billions of rupees for Balochistan’s education and infrastructure sectors.

In his last visit, PM Shehbaz acknowledged the unique challenges of the province, stating, “Balochistan is a beautiful part of Pakistan, and their demand was valid to an extent.” He noted that “it was obvious that more resources would be needed given the vast distances within the province.” He also paid tribute to security personnel and civilians, remarking, “Be it the soldiers and officials of the army, Rangers personnel, or those of the Levies, and the common man, their sacrifices will be remembered in history.”
