PM Sharif Discusses Regional Tensions with Qatari Counterpart
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held a telephone conversation for the second consecutive day to discuss the evolving situation in the Middle East. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the talks covered bilateral cooperation and the ongoing regional tensions, with a special focus on peace efforts led by Pakistan.
During the call, Prime Minister Sharif briefed the Qatari premier on Pakistan’s continuing efforts to mediate and promote a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He affirmed that Pakistan remains committed to pursuing a peaceful solution through robust engagement in negotiations and diplomacy.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed Qatar’s full support for Pakistan’s mediation initiatives. In response, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for Qatar’s backing of Pakistan’s regional peace efforts.
Both leaders underscored the critical importance of maintaining the current ceasefire and avoiding any further escalation of tensions. They mutually stressed the need for the continuation of international efforts to ensure the restoration of peace and stability in the region through dialogue.
The Prime Minister’s Office communique also noted that Prime Minister Sharif extended his best wishes to the Emir of Qatar during the conversation.
