The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a detailed alert for numerous districts across Punjab, warning of heavy rain, urban flooding, and landslides until September 17.
According to the alert, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, and Attock are likely to receive rain until September 17. From September 14 to 17, rain is forecast in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Kasur, Okara, Nankana Sahib, and Sargodha. Other areas including Faisalabad, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan are also expected to receive rain.
PDMA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa has directed commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain on high alert. Administrations in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad have been specifically instructed to take precautionary measures against potential urban flooding, while authorities in Murree and Galiyat are on alert for landslides.
Mr. Jappa urged citizens to avoid unsafe buildings, stay in secure locations during storms, and refrain from unnecessary travel. He also advised the public to take precautions against lightning and for parents to keep children away from stagnant water and electrical infrastructure.
