The federal government has approved an ‘extraordinary law and order and security risk allowance’ for Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officers serving in the 26 designated districts, a notification on Saturday confirmed.
The allowance for the districts, which have been declared “terror-affected”, will be 250 per cent of the running basic pay and is effective retroactively from July 1, 2026.
According to the notification from the Establishment Division, the allowance is admissible for officers in Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mohmand, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Kurram, Orakzai, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Upper and Lower South Waziristan, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Bajaur, Upper and Lower Dir, and Upper and Lower Chitral.
The districts of Swabi and the entire Hazara Division, which includes Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Kolai-Palas, and Upper and Lower Kohistan, have been excluded from the allowance.
The Establishment Division stated that the list of districts eligible for the allowance will be reviewed and notified at the start of each financial year based on an assessment by the Interior and Narcotics Control Division.
