The Islamabad district administration on Wednesday announced a "complete" ban on all shisha cafes in the federal capital, implementing an order from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon stated that the ban applies to all establishments, including those with no-objection certificates (NOCs) and both indoor and outdoor setups. He warned that cafes found in violation will be sealed, and cases will be registered against the owners.
The announcement followed a court hearing where the IHC gave the administration one month to formulate a proper regulatory framework for shisha cafes. IHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar remarked during the proceedings that such activities were pushing the younger generation towards destruction and could not be allowed without comprehensive rules.
