Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has again defended Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s statement on terrorism, terming the criticism “unjustified” and an attempt to give the national issue a “political and provincial colour.”

In her latest remarks on Tuesday, the minister said the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other law enforcement agencies in Punjab were continuously monitoring terrorist elements and their networks. She added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz wants peace to prevail in all provinces and believes that terrorist sleeper cells in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be dismantled in the same way they have been in Punjab.

Bokhari stated that the Punjab government had equipped its institutions with modern technology and improved surveillance, citing the coordinated operation in the Katcha areas as a prominent example of this strategy.
