8 killed in Dadu clan clash over land dispute

Sindh Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani has condemned the incident in Dadu that resulted in eight deaths. He expressed sorrow over the loss of life from the armed clash between two rival groups of the Chandio clan.

Further details have emerged regarding the deadly clash in Dadu, identifying the warring parties as two groups within the Chandio clan. The incident, which left eight dead and two injured, took place in the jurisdiction of the Jhallo police station.

According to Hyderabad Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Tariq Dharejo, the violence was the result of an “ongoing blood feud and disputes regarding the use of a common passage and other land-related matters”. He confirmed that two of the deceased belonged to Sikandar Chandio’s group, while six were from Ali Akber Chandio’s side.

The DIG noted that reconciliation efforts between the two sides had previously failed. The groups had reportedly clashed on several occasions over the last three years, resulting in two deaths from each side and nine injuries prior to Sunday's incident.

Police records indicate that several of the deceased were wanted in multiple criminal cases. Dadu Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mir Saddam stated that the clash began Sunday morning when men from Ali Akbar Chandio’s group attacked the rival side.

The deceased from Sikandar Chandio’s group were identified as Deedar Ali and Gul Bahar. The deceased from Ali Akbar Chandio’s side were named as Fida Hussain, Zulfiqar alias Watani, Mohammad Bachal, Sultan, Manzoor, and Arshad alias Hajjan.
