In a new statement regarding the deadly fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has vowed that those responsible for the tragedy will not be spared.
During a Senate session on Friday, Health Minister Mustafa Kamal addressed the PIMS tragedy, stating the entire system was “rotten.” He was responding to a calling attention notice moved by Senator Sherry Rehman and other PPP members regarding the deaths of 14 infants.
Mr. Kamal assured the house that anyone found involved would not be spared and said a report on the incident would be ready by Friday night. He lamented the difficulty in finding competent individuals, stating, “you have to decide between two bad persons who to choose.”
Speaking on the notice, Senator Rehman, a former health minister, criticised the hospital's safety protocols and shared her own past experiences with PIMS.
