The price of petrol has been increased by Rs 0.27 to Rs 337.78 per litre, and high-speed diesel by Rs 1.64 to Rs 364.70. This latest change coincides with the petroleum levy reaching its maximum allowed limit of Rs 80 per litre. The government also recently averted a nationwide strike by agreeing to increase dealer margins starting from September 1.

The latest price adjustment comes as the Petroleum Levy (PL) on both petrol and high-speed diesel has reached its maximum legal limit of Rs 80 per litre. In addition to the PL, consumers are paying Rs 21 per litre in customs duty on petrol and Rs 15.68 per litre on HSD, along with a Rs 5 per litre Climate Support Levy on both fuels.
The government has also averted a nationwide strike by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) by agreeing to an increase in dealer margins. Following an approval from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), dealer margins will rise by Rs 1.34 per litre to Rs 9.98, effective from September 1, 2026.
On Thursday, Petroleum Minister Pervaiz Malik thanked local refineries for providing relief by reducing diesel prices by Rs 32 per litre in response to a government appeal amidst volatile global markets.
