Bilawal rules out support for government legislation amid AJK election dispute

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday formally ruled out his party’s support for any proposed legislation by the PML-N-led government in either the Senate or the National Assembly until the PPP’s grievances are addressed.

Speaking at Parliament House, he specified that the concerns are related to the recent Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections. "If they have the numbers to pass their legislation without PPP support, they are free to do so," he stated.

Mr. Bhutto-Zardari announced that the PPP would sit in the opposition in the Kashmir Assembly. He criticised the conduct of the AJK elections, stating that they should have been held free of controversy in a sensitive region like Kashmir. He mentioned that PPP candidates had been attacked and faced difficulties, particularly citing concerns in Bhimber, Mirpur, and the Poonch area.

“If the PML-N wanted a controversial government after a controversial election, then congratulations to them,” he remarked.
