Robinson and Tongue five-fors dismantle Pakistan for 171 in first Test

After an earlier rain delay, Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq mounted a recovery for Pakistan with a 91-run partnership for the third wicket. Shafique top-scored with a resilient 61, while Imam contributed 42 before being dismissed by Josh Tongue.

However, England's pacemen regained control as Ollie Robinson and Tongue systematically dismantled the middle and lower order. Robinson dismissed Saud Shakeel (5) and the set batsman Shafique in quick succession to trigger a collapse.

Mohammad Rizwan (12) and stand-in captain Salman Ali Agha (21) offered brief resistance, but Tongue removed both to continue the slide. Robinson and Tongue finished with figures of 5-50 and 5-53 respectively, sharing all 10 wickets as Pakistan were bowled out for 171 in 48.1 overs.

England won the toss and opted to bowl first against Pakistan in the opening Test of their three-match series at Headingley, Leeds, on Wednesday.

England captain Joe Root's decision means Pakistan, led by stand-in captain Salman Agha, will bat first on the opening day.
