Mir Raza Murder Case: Court Expresses Concern, New Revelations Emerge

In the ongoing investigation into the murder of Mir Raza Ali, rescue officials have reportedly made key revelations. Additionally, a court has expressed concern over the slow pace of the investigation. A senior police officer has also joined the investigation committee, which had previously expanded to nine members.

The newly appointed investigating officer (IO), DSP Siraj Lashari, informed a judicial magistrate on Saturday that investigators are questioning 35 individuals who were in contact with Mir Raza Ali via phone. DSP Lashari sought additional time to file a progress report, stating he had taken over the case two days prior and needed more time to conclude the investigation and collect forensic and medical reports. He confirmed that no one has been formally named as an accused yet.

Separately, during the bail hearing for Mir Raza Ali's business partner, Muhammad Ahmed Bhardey, his counsel alleged police harassment. Advocate Jibran Nasir, representing the deceased's family, countered this by stating that Bhardey was merely summoned for investigation, similar to approximately 35 other witnesses. The judge questioned why Bhardey sought bail if he was not initially nominated as an accused and clarified that he must cooperate with the investigation regardless of his bail status.

A session court on Saturday, August 15, extended the interim pre-arrest bail of Muhammad Ahmed Bhardey, identified as the business partner of Mir Raza Ali, until August 24. The court also expressed concern over the slow pace of the investigation into the young businessman's murder and directed the newly appointed investigating officer, Siraj Lashari, to complete the probe by August 24. Lashari informed the court that he took charge of the investigation on August 13 and that approximately 35 individuals who had been in contact with Mir Raza, particularly on the day of the incident, are being questioned based on call-record data. The court questioned why Bhardey sought bail if he was not initially nominated as an accused and clarified that he must cooperate with the investigation and not leave the city. Separately, reports indicate that the investigation committee has expanded to nine members, with two more officers joining the team. A DSP reportedly failed to submit the case investigation and Mir Raza's medical report. Protests demanding justice for Mir Raza Ali continued across Karachi, with family members and activist Jibran Nasir participating.
