While the government has renewed its invitation for dialogue with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the opposition party has linked any negotiations to specific conditions. PTI's Chief Whip Aamir Dogar met with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, where the government reiterated its offer for talks.
However, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the party has made it clear that negotiations cannot proceed unless a conducive environment is created. This includes demands for improved meeting facilities and access to medical care for its founding chairman, Imran Khan, along with permission for his personal doctors to visit him. Mr. Akram also claimed that the National Assembly session, scheduled to begin on August 7, was delayed until August 17 without formal intimation to PTI.
