Punjab Increases Matric Position Holder Prizes, Announces Laptops

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced an increase in cash prizes for Matric position holders, raising the award from Rs20,000 to Rs100,000. Additionally, free laptops will be provided to successful students. The minister officially released the 2026 Matric annual examination results for all educational boards across Punjab simultaneously, describing it as a step towards a fully digital examination system. He noted that all Punjab educational boards announced their Matric results at the same time, ensuring complete transparency. The 2026 Matric results were prepared using modern technology, allowing students to receive verified online result cards instead of traditional hard-copy documents. Private school students will also be able to download authenticated result cards directly through their institutions’ online portals. The minister stated that Punjab is rapidly moving all educational boards towards a fully digital system, with complete screen marking to be introduced from next year to improve quality and transparency. The centralized paper-checking process will become more transparent, and students will eventually be able to review their own examination papers through QR codes. He also claimed that no complaints regarding the sale of examination centres were received this year, and that 95 percent of the cheating mafia has been eliminated across Punjab. Admissions to public universities are also seeing a significant increase.

The Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education announced its top three position holders for the 2026 matriculation examinations. Muhammad Manan Ehtesham secured the first position with 1191 marks, followed by Zunaira Tahir in second with 1180 marks, and Muhammad Faseeh Abdullah in third with 1178 marks. An awards ceremony for the position holders is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Fatima Jinnah Women University in Rawalpindi, with Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, as the chief guest.

Detailed results from other boards across Punjab show varying pass rates. The Lahore Board reported a 64.53% pass rate, with 182,186 successful candidates out of 282,308. In Rawalpindi, the overall success rate was 61.31%, with girls achieving 70.18% and boys 51.99%. The Multan Board saw a 72.65% pass rate, with 96,638 candidates passing out of 133,019. Sargodha Board recorded a 68.2% pass rate, while Sahiwal Board had a 65.10% success rate. Across most boards, female students maintained a significant lead over male students in performance.

The Lahore Board has also announced the results for the 2026 matriculation examinations.
