PM’s Adviser Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for Kashmir on Youm-e-Istehsal

A Prime Minister's Adviser has reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support for Kashmir, stating, "We Are Kashmir, and Kashmir Is Ours." This statement was made as Pakistan continues to observe Youm-e-Istehsal.

Youm-e-Istehsal was observed in New York on August 7, 2026, with speakers urging the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take action regarding the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Pakistan's diplomatic efforts regarding Youm-e-Istehsal extended to Spain and Austria, where commemorative events were held at the respective embassies on August 6, 2026. In Madrid, the Embassy of Pakistan observed Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, with officials highlighting the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and calling for the fulfillment of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed, reaffirmed Islamabad’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people, describing their struggle as a quest for fundamental rights and self-determination. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read during the event.

Similarly, a special ceremony was held at the Pakistan Embassy in Vienna, Austria, led by Ambassador Kamran Akhtar Malik. The event condemned India's actions in IIOJK and the ongoing oppression of the Kashmiri people. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were also read out to the attendees.

Alhamra in Lahore observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Day of Exploitation) through a series of solemn and thought-provoking events that paid tribute to the resilience, sacrifices, and cultural identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The program, which included a compelling photographic exhibition and an engaging dialogue, brought together government representatives, cultural leaders, scholars, and members of civil society. Provincial Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Bilal Yasin attended as the chief guest, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

Separately, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry addressed an event in Rawalpindi, stating that India's illegal and malicious attempt to change the disputed status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on August 5, 2019, has failed. He emphasized that the Pakistani nation stands firm with the Kashmiri people and will not allow the Indian government's expansionist ambitions to succeed. In Islamabad, officers and officials of the Directorate General Immigration and Passports participated in a solidarity rally to express unity with the people of IIOJK. Additionally, Assistant Commissioner Kahuta Shireen Gul presided over separate events in Kahuta, including walks and seminars, reiterating that Kashmir is Pakistan's jugular vein and affirming Pakistan's ongoing political, moral, and diplomatic support for Kashmiri brothers and sisters on every forum.

Protests and solidarity events were also held in Scotland on August 5, marking Youm-e-Istehsal.

Sindh Minister for Labour, Human Resources and Social Protection Saeed Ghani on Wednesday condemned India’s Aug. 5, 2019 constitutional changes in Jammu and Kashmir and alleged that the measures revoked the region’s special status and were aimed at altering its demographic composition. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people, while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir rally at Mazar-e-Quaid. The rally commenced at the Pakistan Peoples Party Secretariat and was attended by All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Sindh Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Human Rights Raj Singh Sodha, and other officials. Ghani criticized the policies of the Indian government, alleging discrimination against religious minorities, and contrasted the treatment of minorities in Pakistan and India. He also claimed Pakistan successfully defended its national interests during the 2025 military confrontation with India.

The business and industrial community, led by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh, reaffirmed unwavering solidarity with Kashmiri people on ‘Youm-e-Istehsal’. A high-profile national gathering marked the 7th year of military siege in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) on August 5, 2026, at FPCCI Head Office, Islamabad, and other major cities. The business community reiterated its stance that sustainable economic prosperity and peace in South Asia are linked to the just resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute according to United Nations Security Council resolutions. FPCCI SVP Saquib Fayyaz Magoon stressed the economic devastation and moral responsibility to amplify the voice of Kashmiris in international forums. VP Asif Sakhi highlighted human rights crises and economic destruction in IIOJK.

A protest was held in front of the Indian High Commission in London as part of the Youm-e-Istehsal observance.

Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Istehsal on Tuesday, August 5, with rallies and seminars held to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

Analysts discussing the geopolitical situation noted that Pakistan's state policy is to continue providing moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri cause. This support is manifested through public demonstrations and international advocacy.

However, the international landscape presents challenges. According to one analyst, while Pakistan consistently raises the issue, other countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, have significant trade and diplomatic relationships with India that influence their positions.

A key development highlighted is the role of China, which has become more involved following India's decision to alter the administrative status of Ladakh. An analyst observed that China had a strong reaction to the move and suggested that Beijing's approach is to wait for an opportune moment to act, contrasting with Pakistan's more public forms of protest.

On the occasion of 'Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir' on August 5, political and academic figures in Pakistan issued statements expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, in a message, described August 5 as a "black day." He stated that Pakistan stands with its Kashmiri brethren against Indian "atrocities" and reiterated full support for their struggle for the right to self-determination. He also criticized what he termed the international community's "meaningful silence" on the situation in Kashmir over the past 75 years.

Separately, at an event at the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum in Karachi, historian and scholar Professor Ayesha Jalal drew parallels between the situations in Kashmir and Gaza. She stated that the people of occupied Kashmir, like those in Gaza, have faced severe violence and human rights violations. Professor Jalal also referenced Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's principled stance on both Kashmir and Palestine.

Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) on August 5 to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir. In messages marking the day, the country's political and military leadership reaffirmed their support for the Kashmiri cause.

President Asif Ali Zardari stated that actions taken by India cannot change the legal status of the Kashmir dispute. A message from the Prime Minister noted that Indian actions have led to an increase in state oppression in the region.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

The military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, also issued messages of solidarity.

In a speech on the occasion, Mushaal Malik called on Pakistanis to be the voice for Kashmiris and urged for a more aggressive foreign policy to highlight the issue internationally. She suggested that a past opportunity to capitalize on a military victory was not effectively used by political players to advance the Kashmir cause on the global stage.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz issued a special message on Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir. Additionally, Uzma Bukhari paid tribute to the Kashmiris' freedom movement. In Balochistan, the day was marked with a solidarity walk.

On Youm-e-Istehsal, President Zardari issued a message, and the armed forces, through ISPR, expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also issued a special message on Youm-e-Istehsal, reaffirming Pakistan's unwavering support for the Kashmiri people.
