DIG Operations Lahore has issued formal orders stating that no woman will be kept in a police station after sunset, and all women must be sent home before nightfall. Additionally, female complainants or accused individuals will not be called to police stations after sunset. All legal proceedings related to women are to be completed during daylight hours, with prior approval from a senior officer required in emergency situations where a woman must be kept after sunset. The new SOPs also mandate immediate and priority resolution of female complainants' applications.

The Punjab Prosecutor General has declared the case involving the alleged rape of a mentally impaired woman at Ghaziabad police station as high profile.

The Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) involved in the alleged rape at Ghaziabad police station has been identified as Imran Anwar from the Investigation Wing. A four-day physical remand for ASI Imran Anwar has been approved. SSP Investigation Naveed Qureshi stated that the incident apparently occurred inside the police station, and the victim's medical examination has been conducted. The Ghaziabad police registered a case of rape based on the father's complaint. SSP Qureshi confirmed that the 19 to 20-year-old mentally impaired girl, who went missing on August 2 and returned hours later, was brought to the station by the ASI without any valid reason, which constitutes misconduct. He added that the girl was neither an accused nor wanted in any case. The Punjab Forensic Science Agency has collected evidence.

Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Operations, Faisal Kamran, suspended the entire staff of the Ghaziabad police station on Tuesday following an allegation that a woman was raped inside the facility.

According to police records, more than 70 personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO), have been suspended. The DIG confirmed that an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) is accused of assaulting the woman in a room on the station's upper floor. The woman later identified the location to senior officers.

DIG Kamran stated that the mass suspension was enacted because the entire staff was responsible for preventing misconduct at the station. “No one bothered to enquire why the ASI had brought the woman to the police station in the absence of any female personnel,” he said.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Monday under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to rape, and Section 155-C of the Police Order, 2002, for police misconduct. The complaint was filed by the victim’s father.

The FIR states that the woman, who is around 20 years old and mentally impaired, had left home on Sunday and did not return. Her father was informed that a policeman in civilian clothes had taken her. The family went to the Ghaziabad police station to report her missing, but while they were there, they received a call that she had returned home. Upon his return, the father found his daughter crying. She told him that a police official had taken her on a motorcycle and raped her.

Following the incident, the SHO of Ghaziabad station was also removed from his post and a replacement was appointed.
