PML-N Unveils AJK Government Formation Strategy

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has unveiled its strategy for government formation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). This development follows reports of a "surprise move" by Nawaz Sharif regarding the AJK government's formation.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is reportedly making a major decision regarding the formation of the government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Reports indicate that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is facing trouble even after its victory in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, with Absa Komal reportedly making revelations regarding the situation.

In the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured 14 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won 5 seats, confirming PML-N's simple majority to form the government.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the successful candidates following the party’s lead in the second phase of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections. The Prime Minister stated that this continued success was a result of the hard work of the PML-N Quaid and the entire party team, adding that the victory was evidence of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s confidence in the party’s policies. He reiterated that the development and prosperity of AJK, along with the welfare of its people, remain foremost priorities for the PML-N.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar urged other political parties to graciously accept the election results, highlighting that PML-N secured victory in the second phase, strengthening its position to a simple majority. He noted that the active participation of political parties in the elections would further strengthen the democratic process.

Seven new members, including a woman, have entered the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly following the second phase of elections. Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal stated that the elections were challenging given the circumstances, and voters chose the power of the ballot over violence. Turnout was recorded at 46.3% in Mirpur Division and 53% in Muzaffarabad Division. A public holiday was declared for August 4 in LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I and LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II, where general elections are being held today.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured 13 of the 18 constituencies announced in the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) winning five. Polling in LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I and at 71 polling stations in LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II was deferred until Tuesday due to adverse weather conditions and landslides. The Election Commission extended polling by one hour in territorial constituencies due to delays in staff and material arrival. The elections were marked by allegations of irregularities and violence. The PPP claimed its leaders were attacked and a worker, Syed Mushtaq Shah, was killed by PML-N supporters, an allegation PML-N rejected, stating the death was due to cardiac arrest. Rana Sanaullah accused the PPP of colluding with the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) to disrupt the electoral process, leading to unrest and gunfire. PPP candidate and Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar formally complained to the AJK Chief Election Commissioner about security lapses and interference, also alleging an attempt on his life. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated PML-N leadership and winning candidates, including Nawaz Sharif, on their victory, while rejecting opposition claims of rigging.

Reports suggest a strengthening of the PPP-PMLN alliance and a major deal finalized following the PML-N's victory in the AJK elections. Additionally, experts are discussing the AJK election results in the context of Mohsin Naqvi's "System Has Failed" comments.
