Law enforcement agencies and security institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are focused on protecting lives and property, restoring normalcy, and facilitating economic activities. In this context, an operation was conducted recently on Kotli-Trarkhel Road to clear blockages caused by armed groups. During this operation, at the location of Guroj Baithak, armed groups fired upon security and law enforcement personnel.

As a result of the firing, one police constable was martyred. Additionally, two personnel from the Federal Constabulary, two employees from a local department, and eight police personnel sustained injuries. Law enforcement agencies professionally cleared the road at Shajab Aat Kete Reh, restoring traffic after eight hours.

The state has affirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting citizens. Officials stated that no armed group will be allowed to challenge the state or create chaos. These groups are reportedly using propaganda, fear, and negative narratives against state institutions. The “Kaldam Awami Action Committee” has been accused of attempting to incite the public to create tension and pressure the state, spreading baseless rumors and false propaganda on social media to provoke citizens against state institutions.

Authorities also noted that after losing public support and following failed statements, the Kaldam Awami Action Committee is now allegedly using women, innocent children, school, college, and university students as human shields in their protests. This tactic is described as being against moral and social values and as endangering their lives. Using students as tools for protest instead of focusing on education is seen as jeopardizing the future of the new generation. The committee is also accused of promoting anti-Pakistan narratives, speaking against the Pakistan Army, and attempting to damage the historical relationship between Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. Their actions, including blocking roads, are said to hinder free movement and the supply of essential goods, paralyzing citizens’ lives.

These actions, according to officials, indicate that the committee’s real aim is not public welfare but to harm the peace, economy, and state authority in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The state has reiterated that it will continue to take necessary steps for peace, law enforcement, protection of lives and property, and restoration of normalcy. No leniency will be shown to armed or violent groups, and those breaking the law will not succeed in their objectives. It has been observed that incitement and chaos always originate from the Kaldam Awami Action Committee, after which they try to blame state institutions. Their armed groups directly fire upon law enforcement personnel to create tension and incite the public, and they also attack innocent citizens with bullets. The public is urged to understand that those supporting such illegal actions will be fully responsible for the consequences, and the government will not offer compensation for individuals involved in illegal activities. General elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled for July 27, with the election campaign in full swing and public participation evident. The government has pledged to ensure free, fair, and impartial elections.
