Latest Updates
A sessions court in Lahore on Wednesday issued a notice to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding a petition seeking the registration of a case against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The petition, filed by citizen Mohammad Waqar, alleges that Fazlur Rehman made a controversial statement about security personnel during a recent party rally in Kasur, Punjab.
The statement, made in the context of the security situation and terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, reportedly referred to the frequent mention of soldiers’ martyrdom, adding that security personnel were drawing salaries to fight for the country. Advocate Mudassar Chaudhry, representing the petitioner, argued that the speech hurt public sentiments and caused distress to the families of martyrs. The court has sought a reply from the NCCIA by August 17.
