Latest Updates

The Balochistan government issued a notification on July 8 detailing the restructuring of administrative units across the province. This decision has increased the number of divisions from eight to 11 and districts from 36 to 41. Quetta district has been bifurcated into East Quetta and West Quetta, with specific sub-divisions assigned to each. Mastung district has been moved from Kalat division to Quetta division. Furthermore, Kalat division has been bifurcated into Khuzdar and Lasbela divisions. The restructuring also includes the creation of a new Wadh district and the renaming of District Shaheed Sikandarabad to Surab. Tribal chiefs and political leaders, including Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani, have opposed these changes, with Raisani claiming the alteration of Mastung’s status violates the 1948 accession agreement.
