Latest Updates
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to acknowledge Pakistan’s rapidly expanding population and reiterated the government’s dedication to responsible population planning for a prosperous future. He noted Pakistan’s annual population growth rate of 2.55 percent, urging all stakeholders to recognize the urgency of this national issue. The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan is the world’s fifth most populous country, with 65 percent of its population under the age of 30. This growth presents significant challenges for economic planning, employment generation, education, healthcare, housing, food security, infrastructure development, and environmental sustainability.
Separately, Sherry Rehman stated that the rapidly growing population is a major challenge. The government has also launched a mission aimed at controlling population growth. A high-level committee, which includes the army chief, has been formed to address this issue.
