The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has provided a detailed forecast, indicating that significant monsoon rainfall accompanied by gusty winds is expected across the upper and central parts of the country through July 8.
According to the Met Office, moist currents from the Arabian Sea are continuously entering the upper regions, with additional moisture from the Bay of Bengal expected to reach northeastern areas. A westerly weather system is also anticipated to enter the upper parts of the country.
Widespread rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy downpours, are forecast for several regions:
- Azad Jammu and Kashmir: Scattered rain and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur until July 8.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain and windstorms are likely in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Nowshera, Charsadda, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, and Hangu through July 8. Waziristan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan are expected to receive rain on July 7 and 8.
