Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) on his martyrdom anniversary on Sunday. In her message, she stated that the nation will always remember his supreme sacrifice and that his unwavering commitment has become a symbol of national pride. The chief minister added that Captain Sher Khan's gallantry was so remarkable that even the enemy acknowledged his courage.

The leadership of the Pakistan armed forces has paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed on the 27th anniversary of his martyrdom. In a statement on Sunday, the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu offered profound tribute to his “unmatched courage, unwavering devotion, and supreme sacrifice”.

The ISPR noted that Captain Sher Khan displayed “extraordinary gallantry and resolute leadership” during the 1999 Kargil conflict, embracing martyrdom “in the finest traditions of the Pakistan Army.” The statement added that his sacrifice continues to inspire generations and serves as a “timeless beacon of courage, patriotism, and steadfast commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.”

Separately, a ceremony was held at his mausoleum in his native village in Swabi, where Inspector General Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North, Major General Rao Imran Sarta, was the special guest. A contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a salute and laid a floral wreath at his tomb.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi were among those who paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed on his 27th martyrdom anniversary. Prayers were also held to mark the occasion.

The 27th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, a hero of the 1999 Kargil War, was observed across Pakistan on July 5. Tributes were paid to the Nishan-e-Haider recipient for his bravery and sacrifice.

A solemn ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed in Swabi to mark his martyrdom anniversary.
