On Saturday, July 4, thousands of mourners gathered at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla in Tehran for a final farewell ceremony for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on February 28 in what sources described as US-Israeli attacks. During the event, crowds chanted “revenge, revenge” and beat their chests.

The coffin, draped in an Iranian flag, was displayed on a raised platform alongside the coffins of his family members who were also killed in the attack. A eulogist at the ceremony was quoted as saying, “We have come not for the funeral but for revenge.” An 18-year-old student told reporters, “We must rise up and, God willing, avenge the blood of our leader.”
